Rev Rory Dalgliesh Minister
Rory was born and grew up in South Africa, and after a brief foray into materials engineering, began full-time ministry in 1992. He trained during the country’s transition to democracy and was ordained in 2000. Storytelling, good listening, and transforming encounters have been part of his life and ministry ever since. He has been in the UK since 2002, and has a range of experience in church ministry, university chaplaincy, and wider church and community work.
Rory believes that good questions are central to life and faith, and that the church should confidently be a place of welcome, inclusion, realness and diversity. Sometimes these are challenging, but we’re here to be transformed, expanded, and moved on by the story of God’s love and justice in the life and teachings of Jesus.
Rory has two adult children, Hannah and Matt, from a previous marriage.
Rebecca and Lukas (who has started high school) make up the Truro family unit, along with Joe the dog, and Derek and Jamie, two elderly guinea pigs.
Rory loves mountains and wild landscapes. He has 3 bicycles (all named after pioneering women in science and astronomy), a large telescope, a garage workshop full of tools, and a new surfski to complement a racing kayak and canoe.
He also owns an unreasonable amount of Lego, amongst other playthings.
Rory hates more than anything hearing “I know you’re busy,…” at the start of a sentence. His ministry is consistently unhurried, with time for interruption and good conversation, so if you’d like one, say so!

I am really excited to be joining Truro Methodist Church as Community Pastor. For the last 28 years, I’ve had the privilege of serving in policing. It has given me a real passion for people and community, and I’ve been fortunate to meet and walk alongside people from all different backgrounds and circumstances. My faith in Jesus is at the centre of my life, and I’m passionate about helping people discover his love, hope and grace for themselves. I believe everyone has a story, and I want to be someone who listens, cares and walks alongside people wherever they are in life. I am really looking forward to meeting the people of Truro, getting to know our local community and becoming part of the life of the city. I’m excited to see what God will do through this new chapter. Its a real privilege to be here, and I can’t wait to get started.

I’m David Crocker and have been working for TMC for a number of years. I’m a qualified Primary teacher but have always been involved with trying to get the church online and out to a wider community. My main roles are keeping the website up to date, posting on our social media platforms and trying to create meaningful content using photos, videos and animation. I also lead the ‘Gospel Table’ project. After Covid, God began to give us a
sense that we were to become a Church that actively and deliberately
challenged everything that caused division, separation, isolation and injustice in
our community and world and to extend an invitation to every person in their
glorious individuality, diversity and variety. So we have literally built a huge table in the car park where we can meet with people and offer them more.
You will also find me in the band for 9:22 worship which is streamed live every Sunday morning at, you guessed it, 9:22am!
